Gault&Millau Event Catering Awards

Partner news: Tømmer Catering x Catermonkey

Anyone who knows Tømmer Catering knows their strength isn't just taste. It's the whole picture: welcome, rhythm, detail and a hospitality you feel the moment you arrive as a guest. That's exactly what came into focus when Tømmer won the Hospitality Award at the Gault&Millau Event Catering Awards 2025.

That award isn't just a pat on the back. Gault&Millau positions the Hospitality Award explicitly as recognition for the event caterer who scores exceptionally on service, hospitality, experience and customer engagement. Candidates work through a detailed questionnaire and submit a file that backs up their approach. The framework is clear: this is about how you welcome people, carry them into your story and deliver on your promises without fail, even when it gets busy.

For Tømmer, that story is literally fire. They started as a barbecue caterer, but quickly moved up to a full open fire kitchen. The Big Green Egg went into the garage, oak and beech became their fuel, and their own builds such as Boron and Frame turned the set-up into a recognisable signature. It's that openness that makes their service tangible.

"Just as some chefs install an open kitchen to bring their guests into their work, we chose an open fire kitchen."

The award was presented during the seventh edition of the Gault&Millau Catering Awards, on 8 September 2025 in Brussels, at the Maison de la Poste site. The moment itself matters, but the relevance lies mainly in what comes after: more visibility, more enquiries, higher expectations. And then one question becomes crucial: how do you protect the experience without the organisation behind it cracking under the strain?

Catermonkey as the digital backbone

Catermonkey is software that helps catering businesses, event venues, hotels and food trucks run the whole process smoothly, from enquiry to quote, planning and follow-up. The platform is built for the reality of event catering: custom work, multiple locations, tight timings and teams that need to work at the same time. Catermonkey helps with, among other things, faster quotes and better insight into margins per ingredient, dish or event.

Equally important is the boundary. Catermonkey provides the digital structure, but doesn't buy food, doesn't staff events on site and doesn't take over delivery on the day. The kitchen stays with the chef, the service stays with the team. Catermonkey makes sure everything around that holds together.

Partnership: keeping the pace without losing the detail

At Tømmer, the experience revolves around live fire. That means every event also has to be sharp on logistics: choices, timing, communication and internal coordination. In the collaboration with Catermonkey, the focus is on overview and speed in the quote and follow-up process, so the team keeps more time for what the customer actually remembers: the experience by the fire.

"Since we started working with Catermonkey, enquiry, quote and follow-up sit in one system. That makes us faster, without losing any of the custom work."

On the Gault&Millau page, Moon Dilliën names the effect of simplicity and clarity in their approach: "We like to keep it simple, with a menu built around five preparations of fish and meat." You carry that same philosophy into the office behind the scenes: clear steps, consistent agreements, less noise.

"The biggest difference is calm. We see at a glance what's confirmed, what's still open and what has priority. That keeps service sharp, even at peak moments."

Tømmer proves that hospitality isn't a "soft" factor. It's a discipline. The Hospitality Award confirmed that out front. The digital backbone behind it makes sure they can keep delivering on it.
