The technological adventure of Catermonkey: a story of innovation, collaboration and worldwide growth

Catermonkey, the web app for caterers, announces its worldwide launch, a system rooted in the work of CTO Marten System. The story begins in 2012, just two years after I graduated as a Software Engineer from the University of Twente, when I came into contact with a caterer from Breda who was looking for automation for his business.

As a freelance programmer, I took on the challenge and started this project. Word soon reached Maty Van Geirt, who was looking for something similar at the time. That's how CateringSoftware was born, initially as a modest side project with a handful of connected caterers.

In 2018, Maty raised the idea of selling CateringSoftware in Belgium, given its success and the market's need for such a solution. We decided to join forces, but not before giving CateringSoftware a complete makeover.

While the concept and the foundation were solid, we knew there was plenty of room to improve usability, marketing and branding. Catermonkey launched in 2019, and after a flying start, followed by a challenging period during the Covid-19 pandemic in which we kept developing constantly, the system now stands, four and a half years later, as a strong player winning over the Benelux and ready for the rest of the world.

Catermonkey is the result of an ongoing commitment to innovation, collaboration and overcoming challenges. Over the past few years, we've developed Catermonkey into a system that transforms the catering industry and sets the standard for ease of use, marketing and branding.

Marten System, CTO of Catermonkey, shares his enthusiasm: "What started as a project to help one caterer grew into something much bigger. Catermonkey is the result of constant evolution, driven by the needs and feedback of caterers. Our team has worked incredibly hard to create a system that's winning over the Benelux, and helping caterers worldwide grow their business too."

Catermonkey's worldwide launch is a high point in our technological adventure, but it's also a new beginning. We're looking forward to continuing our mission to support and inspire caterers around the world with the power of innovative technology.
